Jasmine Crockett Calls Out MTG to Her Face During NPR Hearing

Rep. Jasmine Crockett blasted Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene and other House Republicans for their hearing accusing NPR and PBS of political bias, calling it a “bulls--t” affront to free speech.

“Free speech is not about whatever it is that y’all want somebody to say,” the Texas Democrat said while questioning NPR CEO Katherine Maher, referring to her Republican colleagues. “The idea that you want to shut down everybody that is not Fox News is bull---t. We need to stop playing because that’s what y’all are doing in here. You don’t want to hear the opinions of anybody else.”

The hearing, organized by the House Oversight Committee’s subcommittee on Delivering on Government Efficiency (DOGE), allowed Greene and other GOP members to grill the heads of NPR and PBS on allegations of perceived bias to determine whether to continue federal funding. The push, advocated for years by conservatives, was backed by President Donald Trump

Tiger Woods shows true colors after missing out on $2.25 million payday

Golf legend Tiger Woods has sent a message to the winning TGL team at the end of the inaugural season.

Woods and Rory McIlroy helped create the new simulated indoor golf league, which began in January. On Tuesday, Atlanta Drive won 4-3 in the second of two championship games against New York GC at the SoFi Center, with the team of Patrick Cantlay, Billy Horschel, Justin Thomas, and Lucas Glover being the first to lift the SoFi Cup.

The TGL championship victory saw Atlanta clinch the $9 million grand prize, earning the winning players $2.25M each. Woods was not in attendance for the finals but showed his class with a congratulatory message to the triumphant team.

“Congratulations to the Atlanta GC, [team owner] Arthur Blank, JT, Pat, Billy Ho and Lucas,” Woods wrote on social media. “What a finish and a great way to close out year one of TGL.”

Atlanta began the championship finals with a 6-4 victory over New York the previous day. However, in game two, Cantlay and Co were forced to battle from behind to settle the best-of-three series.

Woods' Jupiter Links GC ended the regular season with a 1-4 record, missing out on a postseason spot. Despite his team’s poor record, he and his team-mates were well-compensated, each receiving $437,500 from the $1.75M earned for finishing fifth in the regular season standings.

Following Atlanta’s victory, Horsschel praised TGL’s innovative format for adding a new dimension to the sport. "I think we all have had a lot of fun,” he said, as reported

"Obviously it is a little bit of a challenge with everything we've got going through the year with our own schedules, but I don't think anyone has ever walked away and said this felt like a burden.

"It's just something new and exciting and we all enjoyed it. To walk away as champions with these guys is pretty cool."

Having helped create TGL, Woods would have enjoyed seeing the idea come to fruition. However, the 49-year-old, who also did not attend the semi-finals after undergoing achilles surgery, admitted that he had not been at his best after Jupiter Links’ most recent defeat.

“This is the third time I’ve touched a club since my mom passed, so I haven’t really gotten into it,” he said to Sports Illustrated, prior to his latest injury setback. “My heart is really not into practicing right now.

"I’ve had so many other things to do with the Tour and trying to do other things. Once I start probably feeling a little bit better and start getting into it, I’ll start looking at the schedule.”

Away from the course, Woods issued a personal life update on Sunday as he confirmed his relationship with Vanessa Trump, the ex-wife of Donald Trump Jr. “Love is in the air and life is better with you by my side,” Woods posted on social media. “We look forward to our journey through life together. At this time we would appreciate privacy for all those close to our hearts.”

History made in Liverpool Legends game with two Chelsea players crunched seconds later

Former Liverpool FC Women's star Natasha Dowie made history as she became the first woman to take part in the club's annual legends game - making her mark within moments of being introduced from the bench with a crunching tackle.

The ex-England international's legacy on Merseyside is already secure, with the retired striker having represented both the Reds and neighbors Everton during her glittering career. During her time wearing the colors of the red half of the city, she won successive Women’s Super League titles in 2013 and 2014.

Across two spells with the Merseyside giant, Dowie became Liverpool Women's all-time leading goalscorer to write her name into the history books. Having made her entrance during the charity legends game against Chelsea as a first-half substitute, she wasted no time in rolling back the years as she replaced Momo Sissoko on the field.

Introduced wearing the No. 9 by manager Sir Kenny Dalglish, she was cheered by the Kop as she became the first woman to take part in the annual legends fixture at Anfield. Just moments after being sent on, she then proceeded to tackle Claude Makelele, who was left writhing in pain following the tackle.

The challenge led to a free-kick being given against the Reds on the edge of their opponents' box, as the Frenchman hobbled away in front of the Anfield Road end. From there, the 36-year-old ex-forward also tackled Chelsea's Ramires, who also was floored by the lunge - this time in the middle of the park.

The home faithful showed their appreciation for the attacker's unwavering efforts, as she showed her competitive nature by winning the ball back for her side. After the interception on the Brazilian, Dowie then showed her ability to link the play as she got the ball out of her feet before setting Liverpool up on the attack.

Coming into the game at Anfield, the 14-time international spoke of her pride as she prepared to take to the field alongside ex-Reds skippers Gerrard and Sami Hyypia, as well as Kop favorites Peter Crouch and Dirk Kuyt. She told the club's official website: "It’s so exciting for us to include female players in this year’s legends game.

"We’re the first to do this at club level, we are pioneers, and it’s a big thing for young girls and boys to see this happening," the club ambassador continued.

Speaking at a press conference before the clash with Chelsea's legends side - which includes names such as Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, Dennis Wise and Gianfranco Zola - she said: "Thank you to the Foundation for making this happen. I think it's a big moment for the club to be the first to involve a woman within the game. Hopefully it will inspire lots of young girls and boys.

“I wasn’t able to play football at primary school or secondary school; girls weren't allowed to play football. For me to be in this position as the first female ambassador of the club, my task is to always try and be the first, the first to play in a legends game, but hopefully not the last as well. So yes, selfishly, it's incredible. I can't wait.

“I've got all my friends and family coming up," she confirmed. "But I'm doing this not just for myself, but you know 5, 10, 15 years’ time, hopefully this can be the next thing and this can be something that we collaborate on again."

Caoimhin Kelleher and 6 more players may have already played last Liverpool game

With Liverpool's exit from the FA Cup, Champions League and defeat in the Carabao Cup final, the chances of several players getting game time before the season ends seem to have evaporated.

The only task left for the Reds is to secure the Premier League title, with a comfortable 12-point lead almost guaranteeing them victory in the remaining nine matches. Head coach Arne Slot is expected to field his strongest team as he aims to clinch the title in his debut season at Anfield.

This could be bad news for a few fringe players who were hoping for some action before the summer transfer window, where anything can happen.

One squad member who may have already said his goodbyes to the Anfield crowd is Caoimhin Kelleher. The Irish number one has featured in 44 club games since the start of last season, but it seems unlikely that he will continue to play second fiddle to Alisson for another year.

Even if he wished to stay, Liverpool's goalkeeping department is set for a shake-up with the arrival of Giorgi Mamardashvili, who agreed to join last summer but stayed on at Valencia for one more season.

If Kelleher's chances of a farewell appearance are slim, they're even slimmer for third-choice keeper Viteszlav Jaros. The Czech international has made two appearances for the first team this season, which is all he has to show for his eight-year tenure. With his contract due to expire at the end of June, it seems his time at Liverpool is drawing to a close.

Tyler Morton has been a part of Slot's squad this season following two successful loan spells in the Championship. However, he's only made five appearances throughout the campaign, and in January, he openly declared his readiness to 'kick on and be a proper professional'.

Morton is currently out with a shoulder injury and it's uncertain whether he'll return before the season concludes.

Several other Liverpool players have spent the season playing for other clubs, and there is a chance they won't be reintegrated into the team.

Ben Doak has impressed during his loan spell at Middlesbrough and is expected to attract permanent offers in the summer, just as he did in January. The same could be said for Stefan Bajcetic, whose underwhelming stints with Red Bull Salzburg and Las Palmas haven't done much to boost his chances of breaking into Slot's senior side.

Nat Phillips appears set to depart after six loan spells and nearly 10 years at the club. The 27-year-old's contract expires in June, by which time he will have finished his season-long stint at Derby County.

Rhys Williams, who was a regular feature during the injury-riddled 2020/21 season, might be put up for sale after spending this season with fourth-tier Morecambe. The 24-year-old has just over a year left on his contract and hasn't played for Liverpool in almost four years.

Danantara backs domestic energy transition to cut LPG reliance

The Danantara Investment Management Agency will provide funding for the dimethyl ether (DME) project aimed at decreasing LPG imports, Deputy Minister of Investment and Downstream Todotua Pasaribu stated.

"Through Danantara, the government has the idea to process coal to become a DME product, which can be a substitute product for LPG,” he remarked at the Mining Forum in Jakarta on Tuesday (March 18).

Pasaribu noted that Indonesia imports significant quantities of LPG annually.

According to data from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Indonesia imports 7 to 8 million tons of LPG each year, underscoring its high dependence on these imports.

On one hand, Indonesia possesses coal reserves that can be converted into DME as a replacement for LPG.

"If we can carry out this (DME) project, we can eventually reduce LPG imports,” Pasaribu stated.

The plan to develop a DME project in Indonesia is still hampered due to the withdrawal of foreign investors, such as Air Products from the US and another Chinese investor, from the cooperation.

However, the government now ensures that the project will run without relying on foreign capital.

DME is an alternative fuel based on low-calorie coal, which is designed to replace imported LPG.

The DME project will be developed at several locations, including South Sumatra, East Kalimantan, and South Kalimantan.

Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia stated that the DME downstream project in Indonesia will no longer depend on foreign investors.

He stated that the Indonesian government will finance this project using domestic resources, including funds from the State Budget and private national investments.

Based on data from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, investment for the DME project is estimated to reach US$11 billion. The funds will be utilized to build infrastructure for processing coal into DME.

Free meals program potentially boosts aggregate demand: Minister

National Development Planning Minister Rachmat Pambudy stated that the free nutritious meals program has the potential to increase the aggregate demand.

“Nutritious meals (program) has only been running for 3 months, and even in that short period of time, it has given hope. At least there is aggregate demand in areas where the program has been implemented,” Rachmat stated during a working meeting with Commission XI of the Indonesian House of Representatives in Jakarta on Tuesday (March 18).

He illustrated that the free meals program incurs a daily cost of only around Rp50 million per day to feed three thousand children. This translates to a potential additional economic turnover of around Rp1.5 billion.

This program could also contribute to increased regional funding. For instance, in a village in the Java region with around 9,000 to 30,000 students, village funds could rise from originally Rp1 billion to Rp6 billion per village.

“This is the theory that has been practised in several villages,” Rachmat stated.

Hence, he urged House members to oversee the free meals program's execution within their respective electoral districts to support its successful implementation.

The Ministry of National Development Planning is currently developing a dashboard to monitor the program's aggregate demand.

"The dashboard is to see the aggregate demand and management of the nutritional agency to ensure that the kitchen can really implement this program," Rachmat stated.

The government has agreed on a total budget of Rp71 trillion this year, with a total of 17 million recipients of the program.

The free meals program is expected to create jobs, boost farmers' incomes, and increase people's purchasing power, potentially contributing an additional 0.1 percentage points to annual economic growth.

In the 2024-2029 period, the government aims to serve 82 million recipients, including 44 million schoolchildren and 4 million pregnant women.

The program requires support from 48 thousand kitchens/service units across Indonesia, as well as annual carbohydrate and protein supplies of 12.7 million tons.

We are not going to have a crisis,Treasury Sec Bessent 'not worried' about long-term market problems

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said Sunday that he is not worried about U.S. markets in the long term, even though stocks fell last week amid President Donald Trump’s tariff threats, telling Americans there will be a "transition," not a "crisis."

Bessent made the remarks during an appearance on NBC’s "Meet the Press," saying that "one week does not the market make," when asked about whether Americans whose retirements are invested in the markets should be concerned.

"We've got these large government deficits, 6.7% of GDP," Bessent said. "We've never seen this when we're not in wartime, not in recession. We are bringing those down in a responsible way. We are going to have a transition. And we are not going to have a crisis."

Bessent said stock market corrections are "healthy" and "normal."

"What's not healthy is straight up, that is, euphoric markets," he said. "That's how you get a financial crisis."

Bessent noted that if "someone had put the brakes on in '06-'07," it could have prevented the problems leading to the 2008 crash.

"So I'm not worried about the markets," he said. "Over the long term, if we put good tax policy in place, deregulation and energy security, the markets will do great."

After seeing major swings early in the week over rising trade tensions, all three of the major U.S. benchmarks clocked solid gains Friday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average up 1.6%, while the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq Composite rose over 2%.

Still, for the week, the Dow lost 3%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite fell over 2%.

Last weekend, Trump was asked about the potential of a recession.

Yamal says ‘anger’ fuelled Barca’s stunning comeback

Lamine Yamal couldn’t hide his delight at scoring as Barcelona beat Atletico 4-2 in a thrilling game in La Liga on Sunday.

Barca looked to be heading for defeat after going 2-0 down but Barca hit back through Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres to level the game.

Yamal then made it 3-2 with a lovely goal, before Ferran struck again to completely finish off Atletico.

Here’s what Yamal made of it all:

“I’m very happy with the victory. It was a very important game. We celebrated in the locker room, enjoying ourselves together. Very happy,” he told reporters.

“I think it was some anger because we were playing well but we were down. Robert’s goal was very important. So was Ferran’s and then we scored the third one.

“I knew that if I score, it would be in important matches. In the end I don’t care much about not scoring in some matches, as long as the team is winning. Today we needed this goal. I scored the third goal, and I think it was a very important goal.

“Beating Atlético today is a real blow. It means regaining the lead with one game in hand.”

The win means Barca head into the international break on top of the table and with a game in hand on rivals Real Madrid and Atletico

Mohamed Salah in talks with European giant over Liverpool exit

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah is in discussions with Barcelona as he keeps his future options open, according to a report in Spain.

The prolific winger is now into the final three months of his Liverpool contract. Salah openly insists that there has been no progress in talks with the Merseyside giants about an extension, opening the door for a glut of other clubs to enquire about a free transfer this summer.

Barcelona have been a long-running suitor, especially given the lack of upfront fee required for a free agent. SPORT claim that Salah has "offered himself" to the Catalan giants, reigniting discussions which cooled at the end of last year after Barcelona failed to meet the player's lofty wage demands.

Several months later, Salah has reportedly instigated new talks although it remains to be seen whether the La Liga leaders can cobble together a financial package to entice the 32-year-old. Barcelona are not thought to be able to match Salah's current salary of around £290,000 per week.

The report also reiterates Al Hilal's potent interest in the Egypt international. Jorge Jesus, manager of the Saudi Pro League champions, publicly revealed his desire to complete a deal for Salah. After offloading Neymar and his exorbitant wages, Al Hilal would be willing to offer their new star an annual salary of €50m (which is the equivalent of more than £810,000 per week).

Some outlets suggest that Salah's sole focus remains staying at Liverpool. The forward's contractual uncertainty hasn't impacted his output, which has seen him topple countless records this season.

Salah wasn't able to help Liverpool find a way past Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League round of 16, failing to score or create an assist while registering just one shot on target across the two legs. The 2019 Champions League winner has previously revealed that he is prioritising Premier League glory above continental success this season, but was still spotted in tears after Liverpool's penalty shootout defeat.

Syria clashes have killed more than 300 people since Thursday

Clashes between government security forces and supporters of ousted former President Bashar al-Assad have killed at least 311 people in Syria since Thursday, according to a monitoring group that warns the actual death toll could be “much higher.”

Government forces have killed at least 164 civilians, including seven children and 13 women, since launching “a large-scale security operation in dozens of villages across the countryside of Latakia, Tartous, and Hama,” the UK-based independent monitoring group the Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) told CNN on Saturday.

Meanwhile, militants loyal to Assad have killed a further 147 people – 26 civilians and 121 security forces – SNHR’s director Fadel Abdul Ghani said.

“We expect the death toll to be much higher,” Ghani added.

CNN can’t independently verify SNHR’s figures. CNN has reached out to the Syrian government for comment regarding the death toll.

The ongoing clashes are the worst outbreak of violence since Assad – a member of the minority Alawite sect – was toppled in December by Sunni Islamist militants who sought to reshape the country’s political and sectarian order.

Syria’s transitional president, Ahmad al-Sharaa, in a televised speech on Friday evening, vowed to pursue those responsible for killing the government’s security personnel. However, he also urged his security forces to “ensure no excessive or unjustified responses occur” following reports of the high number of civilian casualties.

Syria’s Ministry of Information told CNN earlier on Saturday that “Bashar’s remnants” also had captured about 300 government “security personnel,” and that “dozens” of others were “missing.”

The latest surge in violence highlights the challenges Syria’s new regime faces in appeasing disenfranchised groups, especially those that remain heavily armed.

Latakia and Tartous on the Mediterranean coast are areas where support among Syrian Alawites for Assad was strong. Alawites – some 10% of the population – were prominent in the Assad regime, and while many Alawites have surrendered their weapons since December, many others have not.

Assad, who fled to Russia in December, has not commented on the escalating clashes.

On Saturday, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) expressed extreme concern over reports of the high numbers of people being killed and injured in the two provinces.

It called for both sides to treat detainees “humanely and in a dignified manner,” and protect healthcare facilities and water and electricity infrastructure.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres on Friday said he “strongly condemns all violence in Syria and calls on the parties to protect civilians and cease hostilities.”

Guterres said he was “alarmed by the risk of escalating tensions among communities in Syria at a time when reconciliation and peaceful political transition should be the priority.”

Syria’s civil war began during the Arab Spring in 2011 as a peaceful uprising against Assad. The conflict killed more than 300,000 in the first decade of fighting, according to the United Nations, and has left the country deeply fractured.

Romanian far-right presidential hopeful barred from poll rerun

Romanian far-right populist Calin Georgescu has been barred from participating in May's presidential election rerun by the country's Central Electoral Bureau (BEC), triggering clashes between his supporters and police.

Last year, Romania's constitutional court annulled November's first round of the vote - in which he came first - after intelligence revealed Russia had been involved in 800 TikTok accounts backing him.

The BEC rejected his candidacy on Sunday, saying it "doesn't meet the conditions of legality", as he "violated the very obligation to defend democracy".

Georgescu called that decision a "direct blow" to democracy. He now has 24 hours from Sunday's verdict to submit an official appeal to the top court, which should issue a ruling within 72 hours.

In a social media post, Georgescu called the ban a "direct blow to the heart of democracy worldwide".

Tear gas was fired at supporters of the presidential hopeful as violence broke out between them and police while they gathered in their thousands outside the offices of the BEC in the capital Bucharest.

The BBC saw at least one car turned over, and the windows of neighbouring bars smashed. At least four people were detained.

While many protesters left the scene, several hundred people remained and continued to fight with riot police, who brought in reinforcements and attempted to cordon off the area.

On 26 February, Georgescu was arrested on his way to register as a candidate in the summer election, prompting tens of thousands of Romanians to march on Bucharest's streets in protest.

He was charged with attempting to overthrow constitutional order and membership of a neo-fascist organisation. He has denied all wrongdoing.

The 62-year-old independent came from nowhere to win the first round of last year's election, the results of which were annulled just days before the second round of voting.

One key to his sudden popularity was his promise to "restore Romania's dignity" and end subservience to the international organisations it belongs to, including Nato and the EU.

Before last year's annulment, the pro-Russian politician told the BBC he would end all support for Ukraine if he was elected.

Georgescu has also seen some support from the Trump administration.

Last month, US Vice-President JD Vance accused Romania of annulling the elections based on the "flimsy suspicions" of Romanian intelligence and pressure from its neighbours.

Meanwhile, Romanian Foreign Minister Emil Hurezeanu accused Elon Musk of a "form of interference" in Romania's elections, after the billionaire posted several messages of support for Georgescu.

David Beckham pulls off trick in the kitchen much to Victoria Beckham's delight

David Beckham may have retired from football, but his competitive spirit is alive and well-even in the kitchen. The former England captain celebrated International Pancake Day on March 4 by flipping pancakes for his family, and he made sure to document the whole experience on Instagram.

In a series of Stories, Beckham, 49, gave fans a glimpse into his breakfast-making process, from prepping the batter to showing off his best pancake flips. But while the golden-brown treats looked flawless at first, things didn't go exactly as planned.

A flip, a fall, and a perfect recovery

At first, Beckham was on top of his game, flipping pancakes high into the air with confidence. He even added a personal touch by decorating them with powdered sugar stencils-one featuring an "H" for his daughter, Harper, 13, and another showcasing the Inter Miami CF logo.

Then came the moment of truth. While recording her dad's cooking, Harper playfully asked, "Daddy, what are you doing?" Beckham, ever the showman, grinned and said, "It's Pancake Day!" before attempting another impressive flip. This time, however, his pancake didn't land quite as smoothly as before.

Harper didn't hesitate to call him out:"You ruined my pancake." But Beckham wasn't fazed. Holding up the slightly imperfect result, he laughed,"Ruined it? That's perfect."

Victoria Beckham's Unexpected Reaction

While Harper might not have been convinced, Victoria Beckham seemed to love the effort. Known for her hands-off approach to cooking, she has admitted in the past that her kitchen duties mainly involve making drinks while leaving the actual food prep to David.

"He's actually a really good cook,"Victoria has said. "He loves the whole process." This time, though, his skills were put to the test in a more playful way, and judging by her reaction, she had no complaints.

David's love for cooking isn't just a hobby-it's a tradition. He has spoken before about how food brings his family together, especially during their Sunday roasts and barbecues. Their oldest son, Brooklyn, 26, has even taken it a step further, launching his own hot sauce brand, Cloud 23.

As for David's Pancake Day performance? It might not have been flawless, but it was certainly entertaining. And if there's one thing the Beckhams are known for, besides their fashion and football legacies, it's their ability to turn everyday moments into something worth celebrating

Neymar emulates Maradona's epic celebration

Neymar's return to Santos at 33 was met with a lot of skepticism. Many experts figured his best days were behind him, that he wouldn't be able to recapture his former brilliance. But he's proving them all wrong. He's not just back, he's making a statement. Those goals he's scoring, those celebrations he's putting on - they're silencing the doubters one by one. He's showing that age is just a number, and that his passion and skill are still very much alive. It's a real resurgence, and it's fantastic to watch

Maradona's iconic 1994 World Cup celebration is a powerful visual. You're right, Maradona's raw emotion and direct connection with the camera after that incredible goal are legendary. For Neymar to emulate that, scoring a stunning free kick and then celebrating with the fans, really captures that same spirit. It's that kind of passionate, almost theatrical celebration that elevates a great goal into a truly memorable moment. It's a nod to football history, and a way for Neymar to connect with the fans on a deeper level, showing that he's back and playing with that same fire.

Neymar's time at Al Hilal in Saudi Arabia was, to put it mildly, disappointing. Injuries plagued his time there, and reports of his off-field activities suggested a lack of focus on football. It seemed like his passion for the sport had waned. That's why his return to Santos feels so significant. It's a homecoming, a return to the club that nurtured his talent and gave him his start. It's like he's going back to his roots, seeking to rediscover the joy and love of the game that made him a superstar in the first place.

The 2019-20 Champions League final between PSG and Bayern Munich during the COVID-affected season was a standout performance from Neymar. He was truly exceptional, showcasing his brilliance on a massive stage. It felt like he was carrying the entire team at times. Despite his best efforts, he lacked the support needed to overcome Bayern's formidable squad. It was a frustrating night for him, and for many who watched, because you could see just how much he wanted it. That performance, despite the loss, served as a poignant reminder of his immense talent and what he's capable of when he's truly focused

As a fellow football enthusiast, I completely understand that sentiment. For many of us, the 2015 Barcelona team, with Neymar, Messi, and Suárez forming that iconic "MSN" trio, represents the pinnacle of Neymar's career. That Champions League triumph was a masterclass, and Neymar was a vital part of it. He was electric, a force of nature. It's true, the years since then haven't quite lived up to that level of expectation. Injuries, controversies, and a sense of unfulfilled potential have clouded his path.

It's almost a bittersweet feeling, remembering the heights he reached and wondering what could have been. But, perhaps, his return to Santos is the start of a new chapter, a chance to reignite that spark and remind us all of the player he once was.

Daily Schmankerl: The aftermath of Bayern Munich vs. VfB Stuttgart

Die Folgen: Bayern’s 3-1 win over Stuttgart (Bavarian Football Works)

Bayern Munich hopped on a bus, drove to VfB Stuttgart, slagged through about 44 minutes, and then got it together in time to notch a 3-1 win over a very tough, but massively mistake-prone side from Die Schwaben.

It was not pretty, it was not easy, but it was a win — and the momentum train can keep on rolling down the tracks as the Bavarians prepare to face Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League.

Without Joshua Kimmich, Sacha Boey, and Aleksandar Pavlović, Vincent Kompany had to shift some things around — and took a few risks in doing so. Starting Harry Kane with Bayer Leverkusen waiting in the Champions League on Wednesday was a bit iffy. Similarly, continuing to use Kim Min-jae while dealing with Achilles tendonitis was questionable.

Otherwise, Dayot Upamecano was rested in favor of Eric Dier, Alphonso Davies stepped back into the lineup for Hiroki Itō, and Leroy Sané got the nod at left wing. Konrad Laimer played at right-back and Leon Goretzka and João Palhinha patrolled the central midfield.

As expected, Bayern Munich was disjointed and out of rhythm at times early on. Some players looked out of synch from missing time, while others just were not sharp early. In addition, there was a lot of miscommunication that kept things very uneven.

All the while, VfB Stuttgart threw caution to the wind and decided it would not just sit back and pray for a counter-attacking opportunity.

Deniz Undav hit the post in the 32nd minute on a shot that could have easily been a goal. Roughly a third of the way through the match and Bayern Munich looked distracted (which might be natural given the Bayer Leverkusen match on Wednesday in the Champions League).

Then it happened...and fittingly, it was former Bayern Munich prospect Angelo Stiller who unleashed a brilliant, left-footed rocket to beat Neuer. The play was a bit unlucky as it started with a turnover that happened when Sané slipped. Regardless, Bayern Munich was in a deserved 1-0 hole.

On the goal, Manuel Neuer appeared to have his vision screened, but it might not have mattered anyway. You could certainly argue that Neuer’s positioning was off, but it is unclear if he even could see through the bodies in front of him.

In the 45th minute, though, Sané sent in Michael Olise, who had — somehow — snuck behind VfB Stuttgart’s backline for an easy goal. It sure looked like Olise was offside, but it was ruled a goal (no complaints here).

Off topic, but Alexander Nübel has a tremendous mustache.

The teams entered halftime knotted at 1-1, which felt kind of lucky for Bayern Munich.

This was one of those games where it looked like Bayern Munich did not know how to get Kane involved.

This was not Jamal Musiala’s best game, either — which made it all the more impressive that Bayern Munich was able to find a way to win.

When Bayern Munich needed a jolt, though, it was Goretzka who stepped up and made a play. With Bayern Munich showing a high press, Nübel — excellent stache be damned — inexplicably played a slow ball to Stiller right in front of the net; essentially hanging the midfielder out to dry. For his part, Stiller should have just unloaded the ball away from him as soon as possible, but Goretzka was on him instantly, guessed right, used his physicality to tackle the ball loose and scored a goal like something you might see in U-9 or U-10...not the Bundesliga.

Nübel really might have iced his Bayern Munich future (in a bad way) with this performance.

Speaking of poor performances...Alphonso Davies...WOOF! This was totally uncharacteristic for Davies, who only lost possession 10 times (typically a benchmark for success is 15 times or less), but scuffled with some decision-making and also with defensive positioning at times.

Nübel was not done with questionable plays, though. He charged out of net at Kingsley Coman in a desperate attempt to save his backline, who botched the play horrifically. However, it was a lost cause as he just ended up looking silly as Coman hit his shot in before the goalkeeper could tackle the ball away. That made it 3-1 and Bayern Munich could start the bus (literally).

In the game’s waning moments, Josip Stanišić was slammed in the head by a pass from close range, which left him dazed and maybe in jeopardy for the Bayer Leverkusen match.

Overall, Bayern Munich got the job done and showed great fight and resilience to be able to win a tough match on the road. Several players who have been maligned in one way or another stepped up and performed, while several key players (Kane, Musiala, Davies notably) were not great. VfB Stuttgart is a tough squad with a good coach. They opted to stand in and fight with Bayern Munich during a period when many teams bail out of such a strategy...and they almost pulled it off. Simply put, VfB Stuttgart just fell apart after Olise’s goal. That is the Bayern Munich effect — knowing they would need to be perfect to take down Bayern Munich in the second half was too much for the home side too handle.

Troubled Milan sunk at the last by Lazio as furious fans revolt

AC Milan plunged deeper into crisis on Sunday after Pedro's penalty in the eighth minute of stoppage time condemned the seven-time European champions to a 2-1 home defeat to Lazio in front of livid fans.

Pedro was cool from the penalty spot to fire Lazio into fourth and the Champions League places, a point ahead of Juventus who host Verona on Monday night.

The former Spain forward was given the chance to snatch the win by Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan cleaning out Gustav Isaksen just as Samuel Chukwueze's 85th-minute leveller looked like giving Milan a barely-deserved point.

Instead Sergio Conceicao's team languish in ninth place following a largely dismal home display in which Milan had to play with 10 men for over 20 minutes after Strahinja Pavlovic was sent off for chopping down Gustav Isaksen.

"It's not an easy period for the club, the players can feel everything that's going on around them," said Conceicao to DAZN.

Mattia Zaccagni thought he had decided the match with his 10th goal of the season in all competitions in the 28th minute but Pedro stepped up to save the day for Lazio at the last.

An eventful match was almost a sideshow to the vociferous fan protests at the San Siro, with Milan's hardcore supporters not entering the stands until the 15th minute as a demonstration of anger at performances and the direction of the club.

And when they did show up the fans offered no support for the team, instead loudly calling the players "shameful" and demanding American owners RedBird sell the club.

The boos and whistles which had crashed down from the stands all match got louder once Pedro slotted home his spot-kick and condemned Milan to their third defeat in little more than a week.

"It's the first time in my career that I've ever seen anything like it," added Conceicao.

"When you play in an atmosphere like that your boots become boiling hot. It's not easy... and I have to say tonight the team showed the desire to change things. We managed to level with 10 men and could have even won the game."

Fans have good reason to be frustrated as Milan, a giant of European football, are a whopping 19 points behind lead leaders and local rivals Inter Milan, and nine from the Champions League spots after another desperate defeat.

- Ranieri's Roma revival -

Milan have also been overtaken by Lazio's local rivals Roma who continued their revival under Claudio Ranieri with a 2-1 win over 10-man Como which kept the capital club in touch with the European places.

Goals in the second half from substitutes Alexis Saelemaekers and Artem Dovbyk turned an engaging match in Roma's favour and put them in eighth place.

Roma are four points behind Bologna who sit sixth -- in the division's Conference League spot -- after beating Cagliari 2-1 earlier on Sunday.

An eighth win in 11 league matches put Ranieri's team one place and two points above Milan.

Roma looked in danger of relegation when Ranieri took charge in November but they haven't lost in Serie A since falling at Como in mid-December and their form has been such that the 73-year-old was named the division's manager of the month for February.

Como, who took the lead just before half-time at the Stadio Olimpico through Lucas Da Cunha, will feel hard done by after performing well all evening, even after Marc Kempf was sent off for two bookable offences in the 63rd minute.

Cesc Fabregas' side somehow managed to not level two minutes before the end when Mergim Vojvoda hit the post and Patrick Cutrone shot straight at Mile Svilar on the rebound.

However ambitious Como have been excellent since the turn of the year and should stay up as they sit six points above the relegation zone in 13th place.
